We had a very exciting day today when we were able to pick up our first free item from Freecycle. The basic concept is that people send out emails offering items that they would like to get rid of and you can just reply if you're interested in that item. Usually things move really fast, especially "desirable" items like children's clothing and toys. So today we noticed an outdoor playset being offered and were able to respond within 15 minutes or so -- and we actually got it! Ethan was, needless to say, very excited. So after my aerobics class this evening we headed down to Centreville and picked it up. It's just a simple plastic "house" kind of thing with a slide on it, but it's in great condition and Ethan is really excited about it.
The other cool thing about the timing is that, at the same time we were picking up the playground, someone came to our house to pick up an item we had offered on Freecycle recently. Our item was just a bag of old sheets and towels that could be used for dropclothes or carwashes or an animal charity or something... Not a bad trade, if you ask me!
