Our time at Fort Pickens, part of Gulf Islands National Seashore, was the epitome of what Spring Break should be. We soaked up the sun, played in the sugar white sand, and splashed in the clear waters of the Gulf. We had never been to the "Redneck Riviera" before, but were soon planning how we can come back next year - general consensus among the family is that the 950+ mile trip would be well worth it!
When we needed a mid-day retreat from the sun, we headed to Peg Leg Pete's to enjoy some gulf coast seafood... and the playground conveniently located next to the bayside bar. Genius!
Our last morning in Pensacola, we woke up early for a sunrise walk on the beach. A perfect ending to our visit... surpassed only by the spectacle of the Blue Angels practicing over the campground as we broke camp. Amazing!
