After leaving Mississippi, we pressed on quickly to reach Memphis by 11:00... for as they say, time, tide and the Peabody Ducks wait for no man! We had heard about the Peabody Ducks from a work colleague and couldn't pass up the opportunity to see the pomp and circumstance associated with the daily arrival of the ducks to the fountain in the Peabody Hotel. It did not disappoint, and our visit to Memphis was off to a great start!
While we waited for Daddy to pick up some lunch on Beale Street, CJ explored the local sites, including paying tribute to the King... and being mauled by a University of Memphis Tiger. Oh my!
All in all, we were really impressed with Memphis - it's a beautiful city, not too big, not too small, with some great history. If we'd had more time, we would have loved to take in the Memphis Redbirds vs. St. Louis Cardinals game that evening. Even though the home team lost(!), it would have been fun to check out the beautiful Autozone Park.
As much as we loved Memphis, we were anxious to press on to Nashville to spend Friday evening taking in the music scene. It did not disappoint. After checking into our hotel and feeding the kids some pizza, we settled them in to watch movies while we explored Broadway. It was so much fun to discover block after clock of amazing live music and dancing. Nashville quickly earned a spot high on my "go back" list -- maybe a girls' weekend is in order??
