Next stop, Paonia

We have had a wonderful stay in Central City exploring the eastern side of the Colorado Rockies. This morning we will be heading over the mountains to Uncle Ben's house in Paonia. The plan is to stay there for a couple of nights before heading on to Bryce Canyon. 

Miss Jen spent the weekend with her friend Amy so we are looking forward to a reunion with her shortly. Friday night was fun, when Amy came up to pick up Miss Jen and we all had a campfire together.

Our new friend, Miss Susie, from a couple campsites over, had won $70 at the penny slots that day and the money was "burning a hole in her pocket" so she generously offered to take boys out for ice cream. What a treat! 

We have really enjoyed meeting people along the way on our trip. Miss Susie and Mr. Pat became our fast friends, as did Carol, Cindy, and Cecelia, our courtyard neighbors in Santa Fe. "The Santa Fe Ladies", as we call them, should be on their way back to Oklahoma now after a fun week-long girls' trip. Miss Susie and Mr. Pat have continued on their way to Bellingham, Washington to see their son and spend the summer. We are thinking of them as they travel and are grateful for our shared memories!
